You don’t have to go to as far as Boracay island to relax on white sand beaches and experience the natives’ hospitality.

Obviously, there are many islands here in Cebu that you can visit any time of the year. Here are some of them:

1. Bantayan Island

Located northwest of Cebu, the island is part of Bantayan group of islands which includes numerous smaller islands such as Lutungan, Moambuc and Mambacayao islands.

The island is known for its abundance of fish. In fact, guinamos (a type of fermented fish) and buwad (dried fish) are transported daily from the island to some parts of the Philippines.

If you want more thrill than relaxing on the island’s beaches, you can visit the island’s rather creepy caves such as Tiyaba, Ogtong and Juagat caves.

It is said that Spaniards who arrived here came upon some natives farming. When asked what the island’s name was, the natives replied “” (sweet potatoes), thinking they were being asked what they were harvesting.

Aside from the islands’ beautiful white sand beaches, you can also visit Lake Danao.
