Last January 10, 2014, the Sinulog Foundation sponsored a holy mass to signal the start of the very much-awaited Sinulog Festival!
Hundreds of people filled the Pilgrim Center of Basilica Minore del Santo Nino de Cebu but I haven’t heard a single soul uttered a whine.
I guess except for this kid who seemed to be sleepy.
The devotees didn’t mind how crowded the basilica was. Why? Because the image of the child Jesus gives them hope.
While the mass was still going on, the Sinulog dancers waited patiently.
Some of them have to keep standing because they were in charge of some props.
Then at the middle of the mass, all the people in the basilica raised their hands in the air. What could be the reason?
Of course, it’s because of Bato Balani sa Gugma!
After the mass was celebrated, everybody enthused “Viva Pit Senyor!”
Then all of a sudden, almost all photographers in the basilica prepared their cameras. What do you think was the reason?
Hold that thought as for now because the mayor has something to say.
Was your guess right? The photographers were preparing to take photographs of the official launching of the Sinulog Grand Parade! And where could these dancers be heading to?
What is street dancing without the “street?” That’s where they were going for sure! But while they were busy making their way out, the priests blessed the images of the Sto. Nino that the people were carrying.
The dancers were headed to the Cebu City Sports Complex and while I was on my way there by foot, guess who were the people I saw?
It was Miss Cebu 2013 Ms. Namrata “Neesh” Murjani and finalists of Miss Cebu 2014 all aboard cool vintage cars!
What is a procession without the Parade of Colors? Lame! These ANSCAT Officers proudly raised the Philippine flags!
And how did all the street dancing go? Here’s a peek!
