In response to coming of super typhoon Yolanda in Cebu, particularly in the northern tip of the province, local government executives in Metro Cebu have suspended work tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 8, 2013.
Governor Hilario Davide III, Cebu Province, Mayor Michael Rama, Cebu City, Mayor Jonas Cortes, Mandaue City and Mayor Paz Radaza, Lapu-Lapu City called on private companies to suspend work on Friday.
Majority of the Cebu City hall staff and employees will not be working tomorrow, except for those who are assigned in in frontline and support services.
Cebu City was placed under a State of Disaster Preparedness through a Cebu City Council yesterday, Nov. 6, 2013.
In Cebu City work was suspended starting at 3 p.m. on Nov. 7, 2013.
Governor Hilario Davide III also suspended work in the province through Executive Order number 12 beginning 12 effective noon of Nov. 7, 2013.
In Lapu-Lapu City, Mayor Paz Radaza left the decision to suspend work in the private sector at the discretion of the management of the different companies.
However, there will be no work for local government workers.
But, Radaza said there will be a skeletal force in City Hall to allow personnel to respond to emergencies.
Mayor Jonas Cortes on the other hand has ordered the suspension of work in the private and public sector since Nov. 7, 2013 until Friday.
