In the words of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, the youth is the future of our nation and 27 of them will be given a new lease in life, courtesy of a partnership that aims to help the youth achieve their dreams.
Twenty-seven out-of-school (OSY) were chosen by Go Negosyo and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to be the recipients of a special program.
They will undergo the Negosyo Mo, Bukas Ko program (NMBK) that allows the beneficiaries to have work that will finance their education.
We hope that you will continue to aspire for your dreams and never give up on your ambitions in your life, shares Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat during the graduation rites held in Cebu City Hall.
The OSY, whose ages range from 18 to 25 years old, were also beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

Fifty-eight OSY underwent a rigorous training but only 27 outdid the others.
Importante gyud nga mahuman sa pageskwela tungod base sa akong experience, lisud gyud kaayo mosulod og trabaho nga wala kana kahuman (It is really important to finish on ones studies because based on my experience, it is difficult to land a job if you have not finished education),” shared Zenas Burdas of Brgy. Sudlon II, one of the 27 NMBK recipients.
Dili jud babag ang kapobrehon basta mag-focus lang ka nga ma-achieve imong dreams para dili ka matintal sa mga pagsuway sa imung kinabuhi (Poverty is not a hindrance as long as you are focused to achieve your dreams so that you wont be tempted by the various challenges in your life), Burdas added.
The chosen OSY will be given a partner entrepreneur for whom they will work for. Forty percent of their income during the entire duration of their work will be used to finance their future education.
Sixty percent will be allocated for their personal and daily needs.
The VIP Card
Cebu is the first province outside the capital city where pilot testing of Go Negosyo and DSWD partnership was made.
This, for me, is more than good news! This is awesome, don’t you think?
