Yup, you read it right. An Ironman Village will be put up on Bantayan Island, that is to say… in CEBU! Aren’t you hyped up? An Ironman Village? In Cebu? YASSSSS!!!
But no, I’m not talking about that genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist superhero. I’m talking about the REEEAAAL Ironman.
The Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines will once again be happening this Sunday, August 3, 2014 in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Some 2,500 triathletes will prove themselves worthy to be called the Ironman (insert angels singing here). A bunch of egomaniacs, right? Don’t judge them right away.
These guys aren’t just fulfilling their own fantasies, they are also helping in fulfilling others’ fantasies. Through the efforts of some pro-human organization (I’m sorry, I forgot the name of the organization), they were able to gather their donations in order to turn the Ironman Village into reality.
The village will be built in Madridejos, Bantayan Island, Cebu, one of the places heavily affected by last year’s devastating super typhoon Yolanda.
After the race on August 3, about 40 triathletes including the pro triathletes, will be heading to the said place in order to attend the groundbreaking for the Ironman Village on August 4. About 20 houses will be built in the village with the Gawad Kalinga group to select the beneficiaries.
Awwww, I know you’ve been thinking about the Ironman Village as some kind of an academy where they teach you to be a superhero. And of course, the Ironman himself as the teacher. Well you’re not alone.
